Dolores V. 'Dodie' O'Donnell passed away on July 6, 2016 in Monroe, New York.
Dodie O'Donnell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her home in Monroe, NY surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.
Daughter of the late Francis and Vera Stapleton, she was born February 7, 1928 in New York, New York. Formerly of Paramus, New Jersey, Dodie worked for Foremost Caterers before retiring to Monroe. She was the widow of James J. O'Donnell who passed away in 2009.
Dodie was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church community. She was a dedicated parishioner, who cherished her time spent participating in numerous church programs. SonShine Boutique, Sacred Heart Outreach and The Christian Service Committee are just a few of the many volunteer services she devoted herself to. She also coordinated the annual Celebration of the Special People for many years with endless care and enthusiasm.
Survivors include her daughters: Barbara AliDad and her husband Wali of Harriman, NY, Maureen DeVinko and her husband Tom of Washingtonville, NY; her son Michael O'Donnell of Washington Township, NJ; her seven grandchildren: Kristen (Dennis), Nay (Evan), Lisa (Scott), Elizabeth , Aya (Joey), Marissa (Tommy) and Sarah (Danny). She also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren: Brianna, Julia, Madyson, Thomas, Connor, Brandon, Aziza, Amina, Lily, Benjamin and Tessa, who truly were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her son, James O'Donnell. Her family was her whole world.
Burial in St. Anastasia Cemetery, Harriman, NY. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish Outreach of Monroe and The Travis Strong Foundation, which supports Travis Milam, Dodie's great-nephew who is battling childhood cancer ( www.gofundme.com/TravisStrong ).
