Ruth Bowen Mayer of Toms River passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008,  at her home in Silver Ridge Park. She was born May 13, 1925 in Passiac. Ruth lived in Paramus until moving to Seaside Park, in 1972, then Silver Ridge Park in 1984. Ruth was a homemaker, working for several years for the Paramus Board of Education and the Seaside Park Board of Education.

Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Robert; her parents, Halstead and Frances Bowen, and her loving husband, Robert Mayer. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, William Robert Mayer and his wife, Denise, of Point Pleasant Beach, and Gary Robert Mayer, of Florida; four grandchildren, Reese, Evan, Brett and Adam Mayer; two sisters Jane Henry and Evelyn Murden; and several nieces and nephews.
