Dr. George F. Adams,Sr., Professor of Geology, 92, died Thursday February 24, 2000 at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville.  Born in Brooklyn, NY and lived recently in Bridgewater for 21 years and was formerly of Paramus. Dr. Adams was a Professor of Geology at City College, NY for 40 years, retiring in 1968. He also was Department Chairman for several years. Dr. Adams graduated from City College with a BS degree in Geology in 1926 and then in 1946 received his Ph.D at Columbia University, NY,

He was an Army Air Force Captain veteran during World War II. Dr. Adams was a former member of the Environment Commission for Bridgewater Twp. and also was a former member of the Board of Education of Paramus. Dr. Adams was co-author of a book, "Land Forms" and author of "Planatio Surfaces." Dr. Adams was an amateur musician and played the recorder with a Baroque Ensemble and also played the piano. 

He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Branchburg.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, June Bowen Adams, former Director of the Somerset County Library System; three sons, Robert P. of Walden, NY, George F. Jr. of Bryn Mawr, PA, and Cliff B. of Manhattan; a daughter Susan A. Sharry of Paramus, 12 grandchildren, , 19 great-grandchildren. 

Interment at New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY.
