Elizabeth Freeman, formerly of Binghamton NY, 86, died peacefully on January 11th, 2006, surrounded by friends in Chapel Hill N.C. 

She graduated from Binghamton High School in 1937, attended Cortland Teacher's College and subsequently got her Master's at NYU and was a Guidance Counselor in Paramus, N.J. 

She retired to Oregon and then Durham, N.C., where she engaged in many social issues notably housing alternatives for the elderly. She is survived by her older sister, Ruth Freeman Johnston, Binghamton; her nieces, Jane VanDeBogart, Woodstock, N.Y., Peg Johnston, Binghamton, N.Y., and Lynn Page, Chandler, Arizona; and nephew, Danny Shipley, Virginia Beach, Va.; and by Allan Troxler, Durham, N.C., her adopted nephew.
