Mrs. Ethel Reimer

Ethel Reimer of Cascade, CO and Paramus, NJ passed away peacefully holding hands with her two sons on March 2, 2011. She was 89. 

Born Ethel Theresa Comba in the Bronx, NY, on June 24, 1921 to Margaret and Joseph Comba, she married Daniel Peter Reimer on March 2, 1946 and moved to Paramus, NJ where she lived for more than 50 years. She had sons Daniel Peter Jr., (Renee) and Chris Joseph. Her daughter Eileen, died at birth. 

She moved to Cascade, CO in October, 2004 and enjoyed life in her four-room cabin among friends and family. She lived an active life made rich by her faith, book club, knitting club, cards club, and volunteering. She always showed great interest in the lives of others and compassion for all. An incessant reader and life-long learner, she consumed a book a week until her last two months. 

Ethel's most satisfying work was her twenty plus years as Administrative Assistant with the Special Education Department of the Paramus, NJ Board of Education. 

She stayed busy with knitting, crafts, and canasta. She had a notable interest in geneology and once traced the Comba name to Portuguese exiles in County Cork, Ireland. Daily prayer played an important role in her life and her list of prayer recipients was a long one. She was an active Member of the Our Lady of the Visitation Parish (1950-2004) and the Sacred Heart Westside Catholic Tri-Community (Holy Rosary Chapel) Cascade, CO (2004- 2011). 

Ethel is survived by Sons: Daniel Reimer, Jr. (Renee) of Rock Hill, SC, Chris Reimer of Cascade, CO; Grandchildren: Timothy Reimer, Stratford, CT; Timothy Katkauskas (Deanna), Meriden, CT; Susan LeDuc (TJ), Moodus, CT; Kate Reimer, Olympia WA; Great-grandchildren: Zachary Daniel LeDuc; Kellie Katkauskas; and her Sister, Dorothy Reilly of Bronx, NY. She is predeceased by Spouse: Daniel P. Reimer, Sr., (1995); Children: Eileen Reimer (1966); Daughter-in-law: Holly Riegel Reimer (2003); Siblings: Joseph Comba, Robert Mangan, Catherine Comba and Margaret Comba.
