Mr. Walter Behnke

Walter F. Behnke, 88, of Paramus died August 7, 2005.

He was a retired founding partner of Paramus Building Supply Co. in Paramus.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He was a former Board member of the Paramus Boys Club, a member and past president of the Rotary where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was a former member of the Paramus Board of Education. 

Walter served his Lord faithfully at the Church of the Savior where he was an active member for over 50 years. In recognition of his life long residency and contributions to Paramus, the town named the Senior Housing Complex in his Honor. The Behnke family was honored this past May by the Paramus Chamber of Commerce for service to the town. 

Beloved husband of Ethel (nee Dixon). Devoted father of Barrett Behnke and his wife Barbara of Royersford, PA, Jeffrey Lee Behnke and his wife Kathleen of Hughsonville, NY, Kevin Behnke and his wife Janice of Rochelle Park and Cynthia Jill Day and her husband Robert of Paramus. Loving grandfather of Michael, Kimberlee, Sarah Kate, Joshua, Anna, Craig, Lori, Sara, Brian, Courtney and great-grandfather of nine. Dear brother of Helen Clute, Fritz Behnke and Donald Behnke all of Paramus and the late Evelyn Eccleston. 

Interment at George Washington Memorial Park.
