I remember Al very well.  He was part of the first track team, and loved cross country.  My father would take me to see and Joey Mancuso run.   He was a car nut who loved his 1960 Chevy.  Over 50 years ago, he showed me how to install a tachometer in my 1957 Chevy.  Strange how one act of kindness is remembered for so long.

RIP Al.

Simply put: Al was great fun to be around! You just couldn't remain sad or "down"  about anything! He wouldn't allow it! I'll cherish his memory!

Al was more than a great friend, he was a "brother"  to me.  We remained close friends all during these many years after high school, and would talk by phone every week for over 50 years and would see each other as often as possible!  When my parents were still alive and my wife and kids and I  would visit them in New Jersey, Al would always be there  like any other 'member" of my family.  I still remember the first time I met Al. It was September of 1957 and the new High School had only been open a few days. There was Al standing outside the door to the cafeteria with a big crowd around him. He was the center of attention as usual, doing his famous "wooden elbow" trick to everyone's amazement!  My friend and brother for 59 years,  I will miss you so much!!! God Bless you.

Al and I were teamates on the cross country and track teams.

He was a good teamate and was always upbeat.

Sorry to hear about his passing

So sorry to hear of Al's passing.  I am sorry I just found out or I would have commented earlier.  74 seems to young.  My  prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
