SOMODI Steven A.

"Doc" also known as Steve Ray age 62 of Bogota, formerly of Paramus and Fair Lawn, passed away at home on Monday, March 7 in the loving care of his wife Lynne Shelley and his sister in law Christine Dunn.  Born in Hackensack, Steve was predeceased by his parents Vera (nee) Hegner and Alex Somodi.  His "baby" sister Dawn Laake also predeceased him in 2010.

Doc worked many years in construction and metal fabrication.  He was a Union Welder with Local 483, a first rate craftsman with an eye for detail and precision in all he did.  Steve also enjoyed being a cashier at the Bergen County Golf course at Rockleigh for two seasons.  Although his health declined in the last few years, Doc lived a lot of life in the time allotted him.  His interests were diverse.

Among his greatest pleasures were the ocean, boating, salt water fishing, drag racing, golf and ridin' his Harley.  He was a kind and generous soul, a mentor, and a raconteur with a razor sharp wit with a joke for every occasion.

Steven leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Barb and her husband Len Craig of Gilbert AZ, nephews Jeff and Kevin Craig of AZ, brother in law Doug Laake of Sugarland TX.  Steven's wife Lynne and the extended Shelley family, and his Paramus family, Joe and Diana Schmelzer and their children Joseph, Thomas and his god-daughter Diana. Steve also leaves his Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
