Matthew Meyer - Class of 1971

Matthew J. Meyer

Matthew James Meyer, 64, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, of complications following a double lung transplant. 

Matt worked for 30 years for the federal government, chiefly supporting the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Washington, D.C. He worked tirelessly to introduce information technology to support U.S. Navy family housing and transportation initiatives. He was articulate and knowledgeable on many subjects, a poet and thinker, and is remembered for his enthusiasm and energy applied to every task, especially any that helped someone else. 

Matt will be forever treasured by his wife, Beverly, for whom he never failed to open the car door for over 40 years; son Russell M. Meyer and daughter Holly D. Meyer, both of Los Angeles; sister Nancy M. Lewis and husband Jim of N.J.; brother Peter Jordan and wife Jacqueline Douglas and sons, all of Conn.; sister- and brother-in-law Diane and Dennis Makovsky of Spotsylvania; nephews Andrew Makovsky and Dean Makovsky; and sister-in-law Peggy Marquiss of Locust Grove.
