Kenneth A. "Ken" Lundgren
January 25, 1948 - December 6, 2016
Kenneth Lundgren, 68, USMC veteran, top salesman, train buff and hiker, of Pompton Plains, N.J., passed away on Dec. 6, 2016.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1948, in the Bronx, N.Y., and raised in Paramus, N.J. Ken was a soccer and track athlete in high school and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the late '60s. He married Stephanie Davis in '74 and they had one son.
Ken earned success as a salesman. Wallace Berrie imported Smurfs into America in the early '80s and he became the nation's top salesman, thriving in the NYC region. Before retiring in 2014, he worked for Nynex Yellow Pages, Cronatron, and Lawson.
Ken had a love for hiking, fishing, dogs, canoes, trains, L.L. Bean, the American Legion, and the NY Yankees. In the years before Route 287, Ken hiked with his dog, Brandy, through Wanaque and Turkey Mountain. When his son was of age, he'd take him along for the adventure.
Skilled with his hands, Ken had a basement workshop and created various projects, even an award-winning train set. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Stephanie, and survived by his son, Kenneth Jr, 38.
Burial at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome.
