I first met Bill when we were in Cub Scouts together. His mother was our den leader. We grew up in the same neighborhood along with Don Turner (PHS '65) and Vic Canzani (PHS '65). Bill and I became fast friends as teammates on the PHS cross country and track teams. After PHS we maintained our friendship through college and as we started our careers and our families. When I got married, Bill was my best man. When Bill got married, I was his best man. If we weren't living near each other (Atlanta) we would travel, with our families, to visit or vacation together. What I have learned in my nearly seven decade journey with Bill is that if you have one true friend you have more than your share. Bill was fond of telling me throughout those many years that the mundane, trivial things we did together would be a joy to remember. He was so right.
