John's father lived on Garden Ave and I grew up down the road on Stony Lane. John was a good friend of my father's and our family. I recall John's father walking "Big Red", an Irish Setter that was as gentle as could be. I remember as a child when John would stop by our house, he had a tatoo of a hula girl on each forearm and he would flex those big forearms in such a way that it would appear the hoola girls were dancing. He could hit a softball a country mile. His family were always so nice and friendly. I was saddened to read the news that his one son had passed away as he wasn't much younger than myself. I have nothing but good memories of the Ackalitis's and am sorry John and his son left this world so soon. RIP Big John and my condolences to his family.....Scott Barone
