Ruth Bauer Neustadter
1944 - 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Hackensack’s own artistic legend, Ruth Bauer Neustadter, 82, who died on June 12, 2026, after a long battle against cancer.
Ruth was a visionary mixed-media artist, a passionate dancer, choreographer, and a tireless champion for local arts. She was instrumental in founding the art gallery at the HACPAC, which now proudly bears her name. Ruth was a lifelong peace, justice, environmental and social justice activist. She was a beloved teacher, artist, dancer, friend, mother, grandmother, wife, and member of the Solidarity Singers.
She is survivied by Stefan Neustadter and Joshua Draper.
Ruth’s legacy is permanently woven into the fabric of the Hackensack community. We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and everyone who has been touched by her brilliance.
