William Weiss, III (1968)

I knew John best from early elementary school at Spring Valley.  A good guy, he was also in my Cub and Boy Scout groups and we camped at No-Be-Bo-Sco.

His curiosity was a curiosity - I liked him for his interesting metaphysical bent.  One day in about 3rd grade when the class was doing fractions, he asked, "When you cut a piece of cake, where does the part the knife passes through, go?".  The groans of classmates did not deter him from following up the answer from the teacher that it was simply pushed to the sides.  He asked, "Yes, that is so, but is there not some that is compressed under the blade when it reaches the plate?".   John was interesting in that regard - I miss him.
