Richard Backmann - Class of 1967

 

 

 

BACKMANN Richard Edward Backmann, 57, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006. Mr. Backmann was a member of the Elks Lodge #221 for over 30 years.  He was also very proud to be a volunteer for the T.P.C. for the past 30 years as well. 

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Claire Veronica Backmann in 2004, his parents Mary & Cliff and a brother Kenneth. Survivors include his Daughter, Mary Backmann Townsend; a Sister, Lorraine Roe; 2 Brothers, Gerard Backmann and Clifford Backmann; 2 Grandchildren, Colin and Claire Townsend; his aunt, Kay O'Brien; a niece Leigh Anne; nephew, Ryan and several cousins. Published in the Florida Times-Union on Aug. 14, 2006

Virginia Behnke (Lutton) (1967)

Rich was a homeroom buddy for many years and we kept in touch by mail when he moved to FLA.  He was shy in high school (I think) but he wrote that he always wanted a date but was too afraid to ask. I'm sorry to have missed that...

My condolences to his daughter, and thanks to his sister, Lorraine, for letting me know about Rich and his wife, Claire, who predeceased him.

Rich, rest in peace!

Robert Meixner (1967)

Rich was one of the nice people in H.S. Always friendly and approachable. R.I.P.
