Rex Ghassemi

March 24, 1961  -  August 4, 2025

Dr. Rex Ghassemi Obituary - In Loving Memory of Dr. Rex Ghassemi, Beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Brother-in-Law, Son-in-Law, Uncle and Physician.

Dr. Rex Ghassemi, 64 years old, of Point Pleasant, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Rex was born in Tehran, Iran in 1961 to Seti and Mark Ghassemi, brother to Angela Ghassemi, and moved to America at the age of 7 years old.

Rex grew up in Paramus, NJ and attended Paramus High School. He then attended Rutgers University for his undergraduate degree. From there he attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After which, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at Hahnemann University Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in Interventional/Invasive Cardiology at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Rex worked as a Cardiovascular physician for over 30 years in Wayne, NJ where he resided. He founded Advanced Cardiology Practice in Wayne NJ, and served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization lab at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Wayne. Rex’s interests in medicine did not stop with Cardiology. He took a profound interest in medical aesthetics where he founded his first Medical Spa, Rockland Med Spa. After moving to Point Pleasant in 2021, Rex opened up his new practice, Lasemedica Med Spa & Vein center in Spring Lake, NJ.

Rex had a love for his work, but no love matched the kind he had for his family. His family was the heart of his world. Rex met his beautiful wife, Hope, at the Jersey Shore where they fell in love, got married and had their twins, Cameron and Graceann Ghassemi.

Family was everything to him, including his cats. He was not only a physician, but also a captain of his pontoon boat, avid NYG’s football lover, chef and party planner. He spent his weekends driving his boat around with his family and friends, entertaining and making home cooked meals. He loved to host parties, making sure everyone was fed after spending hours cooking up the best food. He was the grill master.

Rex is known to many as a hero. He saved countless lives, inside and outside of the hospital. His generosity and desire to help others was extraordinary - he always gave but never asked for anything in return. There are not enough words to describe the kind of man he was. He was full of life, always making everyone laugh, whether it was his dancing or sense of humor. Rex was bigger than life. A man of incredible warmth, wisdom and generosity, he leaves behind a legacy of love, service and deep human connection. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his spirit endures in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. We will remember him not only for what he did, but for who he was - a man of integrity, compassion and boundless heart.

Rex is predeceased by his sister, Angela Ghassemi and mother, Seti Ghassemi. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Hope Ghassemi; son, Cameron Ghassemi; daughter, Graceann Ghassemi; and Father, Mark Ghassemi.

Burial at Greenwood Cemetery, 703 Schoolhouse Rd Brielle, NJ 08730.
