Kenneth Schott
September 24, 1954 - October 6, 2025
Kenneth J. Schott, lovingly known as “Shotty”, 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025. A longtime resident of Midland Park, Ken was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, and was known for his easygoing nature, quick wit, and big heart.
Ken dedicated more than 40 years of his career to PSE&G, where he began as a meter reader and, through hard work and dedication, rose to the position of office manager. He took great pride in his work and was respected by colleagues across many locations he helped oversee.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ken’s greatest passion was golf-especially when sharing the game with his favorite golfing partner, his grandson Carter. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, and New York Islanders, and he loved following hockey and wrestling. Over the years, Shotty coached both his children and grandchildren in a variety of sports, including girls’ recreational softball, always leading with patience, humor, and encouragement.
Ken enjoyed swimming, traveling, and spending time in his favorite getaway-Florida. A true animal lover, he had a special bond with dogs and was affectionately known as a “dog whisperer.” Around the house, he took pride in his impeccable lawn and home, often seen mowing or puttering outdoors no matter the weather. He also enjoyed relaxing with his favorite cocktail-a Grey Goose Madras.
Ken was the devoted husband of Mary Lou Schott (née O’Connor); loving father of Colleen Stokes and her husband Michael, and Kelly Anne Schott; and proud grandfather of Carter Schott, and Finley, Piper, and Wicklow Stokes. He is survived by his mother, Theresa Schott, and sister, Karen Di Corcia and her husband Joseph. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Schott (2002).
Ken’s warmth, humor, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
May his drives be straight and his fairways endless.
