William G. "Bill" Schuster

September 29, 1948 - September 1, 2025

William “Bill” George Schuster, 76, of Cheshire, CT, beloved husband of Cecelia Schuster, passed away on September 1, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1948, in Jersey City, NJ to the late Bill and Doris Schuster and raised in Paramus, NJ. Cheshire welcomed Bill and his family in 1972.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Cecelia Schuster and daughters Jennifer “Jen” (Tom) Franco of Cheshire, Christine Schuster of Brookfield, and Laurie (Tony) Cavender of Independence, WV. Bill’s joy was often found among his 6 grandchildren, Joseph and Thomas Franco, Alexander and Amelia Timm-Schuster, and Shelby and Donna Cavender.

Bill graduated Paramus HS in 1966 and graduated the University of Bridgeport with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1970) where he was a Beta Rho Sigma fraternity brother. During the Vietnam War era he served 6 years in the Army National Guard.

Through IBM and ROLM he excelled as a pioneer in computer telecommunications and part of the computer world as internet was developed. He loved his career which had him installing the first phone system between Milton Bradley buildings and presenting practical network systems.

Outside of his professional work, he enjoyed many hobbies including snorkeling and traveling. His love for skiing and fishing has been passed on for generations. Bill practiced at the New Haven Aikikai dojo where he held the black belt rank of shodon. Elim Park and St. Bridget Church appreciated him as a volunteer.

He loved sharing new and interesting facts, trivia and his skills with others. Those who knew him could see the kindness in his eyes and know the softness in his heart. He was a tutor, a mentor, and an all-around amazing gentle man.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. Visitation will again be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral procession will leave at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT. Military Honors will be rendered immediately following the Mass in front of the church. Burial will be private at the family’s convenience.
