Robert Allen Besserer Jr. - Paramus High School Class of 1985
April 12, 1967 — October 10, 2021

Known to most as Bob passed on Sunday, October 10, 2021 after a 3 year battle with esophageal cancer. He was 54 years old and fought like a warrior to stay here with his earthly family but was called home by God.

Bob was born in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in Paramus. He volunteered for the Paramus Fire Department, the Police Reserves and was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He worked for the Borough of Paramus in the Shade Tree Parks and Recreation Division for 28 years. He took an early retirement so he could move to Virginia Beach with his family. Bob always wanted a big family and having 6 kids and 1 granddaughter brought him the greatest joy.    If Bob wasn’t coaching Pop Warner Football he could be found in the stands rooting on his kids during all their sporting events. Bob spent a lot of his childhood in the kitchen with his relatives learning to cook and bake. His love language was cooking for people. Most people have experienced a wonderful pulled pork sandwich, a homemade pizza or caramel apple cheesecake made with Bob’s special spin. He was an avid shopper and loved finding the deals whether it be for a homecoming gown for the girls or a part for his truck. He rededicated his life to Christ and served at Bridge Church and was dubbed a Knights Templar. He supported the Rosicrucian, The Valhalla Project and I heart dogs. He was an attentive and loving husband to his wife Karen Besserer, a  cherished and beloved son to his parents Ronnie and Bob Besserer. He was an older brother to David Besserer. He was a reliable and devoted father to his six children, Joseph Besserer, Emily-Grace Lynch, Liam Besserer, Aidan Besserer, Reilly Besserer and Max Besserer. His granddaughter Luna took care of her PopPop throughout his illness. She was the “best medicine” per Bob. He was cousin Bobby to many and Uncle Bob to his niece and nephews. His wisdom and love will be passed on through generations.
