Robert Scott Holmes
May 6, 1975 - March 18, 2024
Robert Scott Holmes, 48, of New Milford, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2024. Before moving to New Milford, he was an active community member in both Maywood and his hometown of Paramus, both holding a special place in his heart. Robert was a proud Penn State Alumni, cherishing the education and experiences gained during his time there.
ne of his greatest joys was the time spent with family at his house in Lackawaxen, PA in the Masthope Mountain Community. Professionally, Robert was a long time, valued member of Triumph Hotels, serving as the General Manager of the Hotel Belleclaire amongst others in the company.
A man of faith, Robert was an active parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Oradell, and a member of Men’s Cornerstone. He was also a respected member of the New Milford-Teaneck Elks Lodge #2290, exemplifying his commitment to service and camaraderie. His earlier involvement with the Maywood Fire Department reflected his dedication to the safety and well-being of his community. His hobbies were centered around creating experiences for his family. These included travelling, skiing, boating, quad riding, RV camping and most all other activities outdoors, especially in the Masthope Mountain community. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson and was always on the search for used, well-loved automobiles. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Penn State football, the NY Mets and Jets. Most of all he enjoyed cheering on his favorite athletes and entertainers-- his children, in their various sports and activities.
His greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer (nee Grady) Holmes, a loving father to Christian, Julianna, and Gianna, and a devoted son to Andreanne (nee Oberst) Holmes and the late Richard Holmes. He also held a special place in the heart of his caring mother-in-law, Rose Anne Grady.
Robert is survived by his uncle Edward Oberst, numerous cherished cousins, and dear friends whose lives he touched profoundly. His visitation will be held at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2-6 PM followed by a Funeral Mass on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Oradell, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
