George DiGregorio - Class of 1974

George C. DiGregorio

July 7th, 1956 — July 29th, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George C. DiGregorio, age 68, of Park Ridge, NJ. George passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 29, 2024.

George was born July 7, 1956 in New York City, NY and was one of three sons to Olga and George DiGregorio. George’s family relocated to Paramus, NJ where he graduated from Paramus High School in 1974. He went on to begin his lifelong trade in HVAC at Lincoln Technical Institute in Union, NJ. Following his graduation, George began his HVAC career with All County Air Conditioning, eventually merging with and becoming Van Natta Mechanical in Montvale, NJ where he has steadfastly worked for the last 47 years. A master of his trade, George’s wealth of knowledge was sought after and highly regarded amongst his peers. George loved his job and the people he worked with and considered them his second family.

Shortly after graduating high school, George met his soul mate and eventual wife, Midge, through a mutual friend. They spent their first date together at a drive-in movie and continued their love story from then on. With an undeniable connection, the couple dated for seven years before tying the knot on October 18, 1981. They went on to plant their roots in Park Ridge, NJ where they raised four beautiful children, Donna, Lauren, Christine and James. Their love story spanned a total of 50 years, a testament to the deep level of love and commitment they shared for one another.

A worker to the core, George’s ambitions began at a young age. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working with his hands. As a child, George had a local paper route, enjoyed “junk pick up night” in Paramus where he would find parts to build his own go karts, and could often be found rebuilding cars in his parent’s driveway. His passion for tinkering eventually lead him into his lifelong career.

George enjoyed the simple things in life. Whether it was fishing, camping, sitting with his toes in the sand with the grateful dead playing in the background, or even enjoying a warm fire at home, everything was alright with his family by his side and a cold beer in hand. Above all, George had a heart of gold. A selfless man who worked tirelessly for his family, George would often drop everything to help others, family or not. He was always good for a smile or a laugh and was a friend to all. His greatest success in life was his family, with whom he loved beyond measure. He valued where he came from and very much enjoyed reminiscing on his favorite childhood memories. All which shaped him into the person that he was. George spent a lifetime making memories, all which his loved ones will carry and keep close to their heart.

George is survived by his wife Midge (Margaret) H. DiGregorio, his four children; Donna DiGregorio, Lauren Bsales and her husband Anthony Bsales, Christine McCormack and her husband James McCormack, and James Digregorio, his six grandchildren; Anthony, Abigail, Lucas, Hannah, Emily, and Matthew, his Mother Olga Murdock, his brothers; Eric DiGregorio and his wife Susan DiGregorio, and David DiGregorio and his wife Kim DiGregorio, and his furry friends Beau, Jax, and Zoe. He is predeceased by his father George DiGregorio, and his many four-legged friends who have crossed the rainbow bridge.

Friends and family may pay their respects from 9:30 to 11:30 AM with a mass to follow on August 2, 2024 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Park Ridge, NJ. 2 Fremont Avenue, Park Ridge, NJ.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization he held near and dear to his heart.
