Skip Clark - Class of 1968

William Stuart "Skip" Clark III
William Skip Clark, Class of 1968

Paramus - Clark III, William Stuart, "Skip," 71, of Paramus, was released to the Lord on January 26, 2022, surrounded by family. Skip was a devoted husband, father, and loving "Poppy." He is survived by his dear wife Carmen Clark; his three loving children, Michael (Kimberly), Anna Maria (Jonathan), and Caroline (Frank); beloved grandchildren Colby, Emerson, Mason, and Ava; his caring siblings Ronnie (Kevin), Jill (Ed), and Peter, also his best fishing buddy.

Skip was born in NJ on January 31, 1950 to William Stuart II and Mary Clark. Skip married Carmen on May 31, 1980 and in 1983 they welcomed their son to the world. Six years later the family welcomed twin daughters. His children were his pride and joy and the most important part of his life. Some of his favorite memories came from the coveted Jersey Shore family vacations in Lavallette. He was happiest sitting in his beach chair with a good book watching over his children and grandchildren. The Jersey Shore wasn't the only beach Skip enjoyed visiting--he and Carmen loved to explore the many islands of the Caribbean. He was a devoted sports fan who could often be found at high school football games in the fall, basketball and wrestling in the winter, and baseball in the spring cheering on the Paramus Spartans. Skip, a proud community member, served on the Planning Board for Paramus and the Paramus Golf Course Committee. Members of the community knew and respected Skip for his honest and loyal service. During his younger years, Skip counseled many a friend at the local watering hole, in his capacity as a bartender.

Memorial contributions in Skip's honor can be made to his favorite passion project, The Paramus HS Athletic Hall of Fame, PO Box 501, Paramus, NJ 07653.

William Stuart Clark

It's been a year since we lost Skip Clark. I didn't know him as well as many others... but I knew him. We crossed paths time to time. He was tough to miss being so tall and imposing. You knew he was there. From early on he left a large footprint.

Remembering him from high school he seemed on the quiet side to my recollection. But later in life he became a bit more gregarious person...likely something he developed during his time as a bartender. A nice guy... but he, from what I'm told, would rise to any occasion if need be. And he did. He was not to be messed with. He was friends with my brother, my sister and even my dad. He seemed to know everyone. A friend told me of once seeing Stu sitting alone, quietly in the basement of the Hackensack Courthouse among the dusty books doing title searches. When he told me... it was hard to attach such a task to that man. I thought it too quiet... too much solitude. But that's what he did. Maybe it was a counterbalance to his otherwise busy and fulfilling life.

But he's gone now and surely missed. And always remembered as someone who added much more to life than he took. Forever a Class "A" Spartan.
