I was shocked and sad to learn of Cathy’s passing. The last time I saw her was at our 50th reunion. We giggled and laughed just like we did in high school and Cathy led the “ girls” in dancing the night away. I will remember Cathy for her kindness, signature laugh, and beautiful smile. She added so much joy to those high school years.

My condolences to Cathy’s family and friends. May the happy memories you have of Cathy bring a smile to your face during this sad time.

I am so saddened by Cathy's passing and send my love and sympathy to all her family. Cathy and I were the "best" of friends from kindergarten all the way through high school and beyond. We had more fun together than can be imagined. What a loss to all who were lucky enough to have her part of their lives.

I had Ms. Graff for several years in HS in the late 70's for typewriting and shorthand.  She was always upbeat with a spring in her step and I could tell she loved being a teacher.  She wasn't much older than we were, nor did she look it; her big dimpled smile is memorable and I remember thinking I hope I look as good as she does when I'm her age!  She was always helpful and understanding, she was one of my favorite teachers for sure.  I missed having her sign my yearbook but she might've been interested in knowing that I still use the skills she taught me to this day in my career.  My family was friendly with some of the Behnke family years ago (Fritz, Jay & family) though I don't particularly remember that she was a Behnke as well.  My sympathies & prayers for God's peace to the entire Behnke family & the rest of her family & friends.

Rosanne and I were saddened when we learned of Cathy's passing.  When I think about growing up in Paramus she is one of the first persons who comes to mind.  I have happy memories of Cathy from that time, starting with our days at Farview School.  Rosanne has similar remembrances of Cathy when they were sorority sisters in college.  May she rest in peace.

I first met Cathy freshman year, 1963, at Eastbrook. So many great, lifelong friendships started at that time. Cathy was one of them. She ;was one of a dozen close friends that formed welcoming and extended friend/family; Glen, Bobby, Chuck, Charlie, Patty, Marci, Leslie, Ellen, Ginny, Ron, Marlene, Andy, Mary, Kathy, (sorry if I missed anyone, you know who you are).  I had spent the prior 9 years at OLV and this was my first year in public school. It was also Eastbrook's 1st year. Everything was brand new. Charles Brown, Cathy's Uncle was the Vice Principal. If there was a foundation to Paramus, it was the Behnke Family.  My first recollection of Behnke was my Little League team, Behnke Bldg Supply (later Paramus Building Supply) .  Cathy's home was just a short walk down Spring Valley Road from Eastbrook. Walked past it every day to and from school.  Her older brother, Howie, was a star athlete of that great class of athletes at PHS. To me, Cathy was in many ways the glue to the group. Friend to everyone so everyone remained friends. Her parents were welcoming to many get togethers. These friendships grew up in PHS and added Westbook friends. Cathy was the cheerleader, I was football Co-Captain with Glen. Others in the group were cheerleaders and athletes. She is part of almost every memory of life at PHS. I did not have much contact with Cathy after HS.  I moved to CA and she gave back to Paramus with her teaching, experience and friendship. I would catch up with her when I crossed country to the Reunions. She was the same, kind and a dear friend. I will continue to recall those great times as I hold her dear in my memory.

My sincere condolences go out to her family and all her many friends. I'm sure we are all suffering this great loss.

I had Mrs. Maxwell for Typewriting I in 1986-87 (freshman / first-year student).  She was always friendly and smiling.  I remember making sure to stop in by her when I was home (before all the security lockdowns) as I would walk around after school trying to catch time with staff.  Such a loving soul is missed.

What a wonderful pictorial restrospective of Cathryn.  And she became a teacher at PHS!  That's quite remarkable - teachers are among my favorite people. I'm sorry to say that I didn't know her.  Although we were both members of the Concert Choir, she didn't join until sophomore year, at which point I had already graduated.  As Michele mentioned, Howie Behnke was our PHS 1964 classmate - a really neat guy who I bumped into at the Paramus Pool years later.

I am very sad to hear of Cathy's passing. Cathy was a co-captain of the 1966-1967 PHS Cheerleaders when I somehow made it onto the squad in my junior year.. Cathy was a great leader- I looked up to her as a mentor. Since the advent of Facebook, I also looked forward to her posts of her decorative, costumed, garden geese. They always made me smile, as did Cathy. Cathy always looked so youthful (and healthy) in her posts. I guess that is why I am shocked to hear she is gone. Sending sincere condolences to her family and friends. Hoping happy memories bring you all to a place of peace and comfort.
