In Memory

Bill Knichel - Class of 1967

Bill Knichel

William R. Knichel

William R. Knichel, passed away on the morning of January 21st, in Orlando, with his daughters, Kandace and Kristy, by his side. William grew up in Paramus, NJ where he graduated from Paramus High school in 1967. He served in Vietnam with the Army after graduation. Bill was a larger-than-life personality with a huge, caring heart. He had a love for his friends, family and life that made him a legend. He always stressed the importance of family being first and living life to the fullest. Bill's greatest accomplishment in life was not just his children, but starting his own business, Knichel Logistics, and being able to pass it onto his children in order to leave the legacy he always wanted. Bill was very much loved and will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his daughters, Kandace Knichel and Kristy Knichel-Bartolozzi; his son, William Knichel; his four grandchildren, Zaydra Barkley, Brayden Bartolozzi, Adin Knichel and Toby Knichel; and his two sisters, Kandace Dewberry and Georgia Duffy. Bill was very passionate about giving back to his community, so in lieu of flowers, please send donations to a nonprofit very dear to his heart; Defenders of Freedom Pittsburgh. https://defendersoffreedompa.us/donate

Bill and his sister Georgia were childhood friends from the early to mid 50s and a time we could all run free within a couple of blocks home. Always remember his laugh and smile and that he was a fun loving guy. Although we have not seen each other except at reunions this comes as a shock. RIP Bill and condolences to your family.

I am so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of the 'Good Ones" all right!  One of the nice crowd of kids behind Haase Ave and Spring Valey Rd.  Glad to have seen him, Georgia, and Kathy V at reunions and in the good old days at the school dances and summer block parties.  I never heard him have a mean thing to say...  Ginny

I was glad to have seen and spoken with Bill at our 45th.  He was proud of starting Knichel Logistics and developing it into a very successful enterprise.  According to an area business journal Knichel Logistics, Inc. is regarded as one of the largest logistics/trucking firms in Pittsburgh.  Rosanne and I extend our sincere sympathies to Georgia and the rest of Bill's family.
